ACR broadcastThe annual Seó Raidió for Seachtain na Gaeilge was broadcast live from Our Lady’s Bower on Athlone Community Radio on Wednesday, 14 March. As usual each year was well represented with poets, singers, dancers and actors. Dancing on the radio is very popular!

Chloe Gavin and Carla Cooney from TY presented the show, ably assisted by their student production team.  First years were well represented with many reciting their own poems and others talking about the ciorcal cainte in the school. Ciara Finn played the trumpet, Nikola Jankowska the violin and Lucy Delaney the flute. Ava Kelly and Claire Jane Kenny sang a tune.

Sixth year Rachel Connaughton played the harp, second year Clare Reidy the cello and even our Spanish students were called on for a song. Many thanks to Athlone Community Radio for their assistance and we look forward to more Irish language ventures in the future. Congratulations to Mr Keating for putting it all together.

ceili 2Céilí Mór:

All first years enjoyed a huge céilí in the gym organised by Ms Windle, Ms Moloney and the TY students on Tuesday, 13 March.

All funds raised will go to the LSU Missions in Tanzania. Everybody had a great time and some won prizes for their costumes.
