The 26 members of our Student Council travelled to Mullingar on Tuesday October 22rd for the AGM and training day facilitated by Westmeath Comhairle na nÓg. The day enabled our Student Council to work with each other through team building exercises and meet and collaborate with students from other Westmeath schools. Icebreakers, quizzes, a voting session and wellness activities ensured the girls enjoyed an active and engaging day.

A workshop was also provided by the emergency services which included demonstrations of first aid and CPR. This workshop was done in order to build on the topic of road safety which is being pursued by Westmeath Comhairle in 2019. Road Safety made real – “Make our Roads Safe Again”, was a very successful event run by Westmeath Comhairle members, including Bower students last May. This year’s cohort of council members viewed a video, through the use of VR headsets which was created from this event. It is intended that this road safety campaign will be brought to the Bower after Christmas.

Thank you to Westmeath Comhairle na nÓg Coordinator Edweena Farrell for providing this learning experience for our students.
