The winner of the Nicola Ward Trophy for Public Speaking 2011 is Imogen Gray who spoke on the topic ” Women in a Man’s World”.

Speaking at the 23rd annual competition judged by Eamon Higgins and friends from the Athlone Toastmasters, Imogen was one of nine students who had made it through the initial heats to speak at the final.  Mary Dunne was second with her topic, “Green”, and Emma Haran was third with the topic “Purple”!

The event, initiated by Eamon Higgins in 1989, was introduced to promote self-confidence in our young students and to commemorate Nicola Ward, a young Bower student who died tragically. This year it was held in the convent hall on Thursday, 19 May.
