IMG-20191018-WA0001Representatives from our Green Schools Committee attended an interactive training day run by An Taisce in the Radisson Hotel on Tuesday, October 15th. The committee is embarking on its two year plan to secure its second green flag for the school, for water conservation.

Clodagh Keenan, Cliodhna Murtagh, Amina Bashiru, Ebun Jamgbadi and Layo Olulana were brought through the seven steps of obtaining a green flag and were shown examples of successful action plans from other schools. They also received advice and guidance on possible future fundraisers and on ways to create awareness throughout the school community to ensure as many people as possible play a part in the Bower becoming more water conscious. The girls got the opportunity to take part in some fun water-based experiments and spoke with a representative from Irish Water, who provided additional insights into water conservation.

The committee members enjoyed collaborating with students from other local schools, as they got the opportunity to share ideas and strategies and are looking forward to feeding back all they learned, in order to motivate staff and students alike to think more carefully about the water we consume.
