16 Bronze Gaisce (The President’s Award) participants have chosen to use their love of the outdoors and horticulture as part of their community involvement challenge. They, along with their Gaisce PAL (President Award Leader) Ms Smith have been very busy since August, creating rockeries and planting flowerbeds around the school grounds.

This activity has coincided perfectly with Gaisce’s 35th anniversary celebration and their #BulbsForBees initiative. Gaisce is asking everyone in Ireland to plant pollinator-friendly bulbs to help safeguard the future of our vital bee population. In addition to the planting the girls had started in September, they were thrilled to receive a great selection of free bulbs from Gaisce and supported by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration, and Youth.

The school community is very appreciative of all the girls’ hard work in brightening up our outdoor space and helping OLB do its bit for the environment. We look forward to seeing all the girls’ hard work blossom in spring.
