dream teamEighty six very enthusiastic second years accompanied by ten slightly apprehensive teachers enjoyed a four day trip to Italy at the end of last term.

It was an action packed trip with an extremely early start but everyone returned tired and happy with the experience – though not very enthusiastic about the food!

The trip involved a whirlwind tour of three cities, Milan, Venice and Verona with one more beautiful than the other.

There was huge interest in Juliet’s house in Verona as well as the canals and sights in Venice. Some of the girls even witnessed a wedding party arriving by gondola! The Italian icecream was a great hit too. Just ask Gudge!tails

The highlight of the trip was probably the third day which commenced with a visit to a safari park and zoo, followed by a motorboat trip on Lake Garda and finishing with pizza making in a hotel.

The weather was beautiful, the icecreams huge and the pizzas were delicious. All returned to relax in a hotel in the mountains overlooking Lake Garda.

pizza 2Many thanks to staff members Diane Windle and Lorraine Kavanagh for organising the tour – no mean feat when 86 students are involved! The programme was varied, the shopping plentiful and the girls were a credit to the school. The Aer Lingus staff remarked on their excellent behaviour on the return trip, also noting that it was the first time that they had seen students contribute to their Unicef collection.

There are many photos of the tour on our Facebook page. Next year’s trip will be a visit to Paris in February.
