ARSC Ambassador LibertyCongratulations to 6th Year student and senior hockey Captain, Liberty McGovern, who has been named one of Athlone Regional Sports Centre’s Ambassadors 2019-2021. Liberty has been playing hockey with Athlone Hockey Club since the age of 8 and was selected to represent Connacht at the age of 13. She has experienced fantastic success with both club and school and at provincial level. She shows great leadership qualities on the pitch and ever-present determination to reach the highest levels of her sport.

Liberty attended the Ambassador Launch Night on Wednesday March 27th. During the event she and her fellow ambassadors were interviewed by Will O’Callaghan from Off the Ball. She then took part in a Q&A session with the gathered audience, made up RSC members and the wider community. After interviews with local newspapers and radio stations, she spent time taking photos with and signing autographs for her young fans. Liberty is looking forward to the great support she will receive from ARSC in the continued development of her sporting skills. In turn, she is looking forward to lending her support to the Sports Centre’s improvement projects over the coming months. These include their connection to the Greenway and the development of their outdoor equipment and Astro Turf facilities. She’s also excited about inspiring a new generation of sports stars, as she will be present at the various kids camps the centre runs during school holidays. We wish her every success in her new role and are very proud of her achievements to date.
