IMG_0767The countdown is on to this year’s TY musical and the excitement is building daily. Director Aishling Fennell is working flat out to stage a fantastic show featuring singers and dancers from the Marist and Bower.

Little Shop of Horrors is a horror comedy rock musical, by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker Seymour (Josh Earley) who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh!

Not at all grizzly, the musical is a real crowd-pleaser with catchy songs, very funny dialogue, energetic dance routines and even puppets. It is one of the longest running off-Broadway musicals of all time.

IMG_0757There are many lovable characters too – Mushnik (Edward Clarke), Audrey (Sorcha McGlynn), Orin (Lorcan Withers), Crystal (Kate Derwin, Chloe Coleman Gavin), Ronette (Katlyn Murray), Chiffon (Tara Flanagan), Bernstein (Daniel Butler), Mrs Luce (Eirinn Dully, Aobh O’Brien), Snip Snip (Amy Mc Bride) Puppeteer (Adam Moran) and Patrick Martin (Nathanial O’Neill).

The huge cast is both energetic and enthusiastic and a credit to their director who had to coax the best performances from the boys and girls while keeping well over a hundred students on target.

All they need now is an audience so come along and support these wonderful performers while enjoying a great night’s entertainment. The show will take place in the Dean Crowe Theatre on 31 January, 1 and 2 February at 8 pm. Tickets available from the Theatre booking office 0906492129
