A Caring School

A happy, contented student works well. While accepting that no teacher can take the place of a parent, a girl who is troubled or concerned will always find a sympathetic ear.

At Our Lady's Bower individual Subject Teachers, Class Teachers, Year Heads and the Guidance Counselors are prepared and willing to help students, by encouraging effort, being available for advice or pointing out the need for referral where necessary.

Special considerations and the special needs of individual students are sensitively handled. The school is prepared to call on the services of outside agencies should the need arise.

Students are encouraged to take responsibility for their own behaviour. Each class elects its own Prefect.

The Sixth Year Prefects contribute significantly to the smooth running of the school. A system of supervised detention is in place to deal with breaches of the school rules. Our girls are encouraged to be sensitive to each other's needs. It is hoped that a mutually supportive environment is created in which students work hard and enjoy all aspects of school life.

The quality of relationship between staff and students has been the hallmark of the education provided at Our Lady's Bower.
