Past pupil Helen Dixon, our Data Protection Commissioner since 2014 has recently been listed as one of the 25 most powerful women in Ireland. Helen initially studied languages but worked for ten years in the IT industry following postgraduate studies in computer science. She also holds a masters in European economic and public affairs, a masters in governance, a diploma in statistics and is an honorary fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Jess McMickan recently graduated as a vet from UCD and is now working in the UK, while Jennifer Byrne and Kara Diffley graduated with degrees in medicine from NUIG.

Lara Cassidy is presently a PhD student in the Molecular Population Genetics lab in Trinity College, heading into her final year. At the moment, the lab’s main focus is ancient DNA research and her project deals specifically with Irish human prehistory.

Deirdre Martin Adamson received a great review as chef in the relocated Fatted Calf in town, while Lynda McFarland has enjoyed great ratings for her new deli on the far side of town.
