hoc1In the last two matches of the league the senior hockey team travelled to Sligo to take on two schools, Mercy and Grammar. Despite the dreadful weather the girls got off to a good start against Mercy when Liberty McGovern opened the scoring from a short corner. Aoife Healy and Kate Nolan added three more goals to clinch victory.

The Bower team failed to score against a strong Grammar team but the girls were happy to have given of their best, only losing by one goal.

Basketball Team Loses Out to Kilcullen

senior bb 3The senior Bower basketball team took on last year’s champions CPC Kilcullen on Tuesday, 7 November in a very tough home fixture, eventually losing 63-46.

In the first quarter Niamh McGann and Grace Halligan scored to keep the Bower in contention but already the opposition had established a lead. In the second quarter Niamh, Alanna Nic Ghiolla Phadraig, Kelley Colgan and Faith Greene scored but couldn’t reduce the deficit enough until the third quarter where they reduced the lead to fourteen points.

A huge effort in the final stages brought the difference down to a mere nine points until the Kildare girls found a second wind and ran out eventual victors.
