All in OLB were very proud to see four of our Bower girls named monthly winners in the Westmeath Independent’s Sports Awards throughout last year. Special Olympics superstar Sarah Kilmartin was named joint winner in March, alongside her basketball teammate Shauna Stewart and gymnast John Keenan. We were so happy to welcome Sarah back to the school for a whole school assembly on her return from Abu Dhabi, to celebrate her gold medal win.

6th Year fencer Isabelle Clarke was named joint winner in April. Isabelle was the overall winner at the Glasgow Open and is ranked No.2 for Senior Women’s Epee in Ireland.

5th Year and international showjumper Kate Derwin was named the July winner. Kate has had a wonderful year in the saddle, winning individual gold and team bronze at the European Youth Show Jumping Championships in the Netherlands. Kate has also been shortlisted for the “Her Sport” Young Athlete of the Year Award.

5th Year Rebecca Lowe continues to dominate in the field in multi-discipline sports and was named the joint winner for the month of August. Last year she added the Senior National Tetrathlon title to her list of wins, having previously claimed victories at both Minimus and Junior level.

The whole school community is thrilled to see the girls receive this recognition and have been casting their votes for this year’s Readers’ Choice Award. We hope they enjoy the awards ceremony with family and friends, which will be held in the Shamrock Lodge on Friday, January 31st.  Well done girls.
