I WISH

International Day Of Women And Girls In Science was celebrated on Monday, February 11th and to mark the event 5th Year students attended I WISH at the RDS. I WISH (Inspiring Women in Stem) is an initiative to inspire, encourage and motivate young female students to pursue careers in STEM. I WISH highlights that STEM can change our world. We have so many world problems to solve – food shortage, climate change, pollution, ageing population. The organisation believes that these problems will be solved through STEM if the power of thousands of girls is harnessed to shape a better world. The day was comprised of interactive exhibitions and workshops. The girls also heard engaging talks from Dee Forbes, RTE Director General, Joanna Donnelly, from Met Eireann and Googles’s Fionnuala Meehan, who spoke of the opportunities for a career in STEM.
