Since the beginning of term many of the transition year students have been fully occupied with rehearsals for the annual Bower musical. This year’s show is the ever-popular ‘Annie’, which everyone knows and loves! The target audience is very much Our Lady’s Bower students, their families and friends, and the 6th class girls who might enjoy an informal setting to view the school.
The production is the work of the TY students, directed by local director Harry Smith. Bower music teacher Hilary Price is the musical director and she has both professional and talented student players in the orchestra. Set and costume design is the work of art teachers Oonagh Kelly and Ciara Henriques, ably assisted by various talents within the student body. The formidable Mairin Ryan, as stage manager, ensures that everything runs smoothly. The OLB Parents Association is as usual very involved in the promotion of the show, selling tickets at the recent open night and parent-teacher meetings.
Such is the wealth of talent in TY that parts in the performance can be restricted to students in that year. Jessica Rogers plays the role of Annie, Caoimhe Curran is Oliver Warbucks and Sirina McKeogh is Grace Farrell. Students who are not involved on stage are working on sets, costumes, ticket sales and front of house.
Performances are on the 7th, 8th & 9th February at 8pm in the Convent Hall, Retreat Rd. Tickets are available from Our Lady’s Bower (09064-74777) or Music World, Golden Island. Book early! Price €7 child, €10 adult, €30 Family ticket (2 adults, 2 children) Reserved seating.
