drugs 2

Frankie Keena, Garda Andrew Haran and Jim Henson from the Athlone Drugs Awareness group were in the Bower last week to present the prizes in the 2014 anti-drugs poster competition. Alison Carolan’s poster was chosen as the winner,  while Laura Bukvic, Heather Coffey, Michelle Faller, Julie Ryan and Isabel Hamilton were the other prizewinners.

After the prize giving ceremony, Frankie Keena and Garda Haran spoke to the second years about saying no to drugs. The talk was organised by Valerie Tormey, the Health Promoting Schools co-ordinator on the staff, and members of the student committee.

A little known fact? Bower art teacher Ciara Henriques won this competition when she was a student here. She designed the current logo which features an eye.
