Thank you to Athlone Deputy Mayor Cllr Frankie Keena and Mr Morgan Fagg from Arcadia Retail Centre, who visited Our Lady’s Bower to promote this year’s Arcadia Climate Action Awards.
They met with 6th Year students Londi Ndlovu and Ligia Afedoaei, winners of the best website design in the 2022 competition. Londi (Junior Mayor 2021-22) and Ligia are eager to help guide OLB students as they submit their projects and proposals for the 2023 competition. The students have been challenged to think what Athlone will look like in 2050 and what Arcadia Retail Park should do now to prepare for these environmental changes.
Londi and Ligia have both been Student Council members and know the importance of harnessing student voice for positive change. As activist Malala Yousafzai said, “One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world”. The very best of luck to this year’s competition entrants.
