In a week when everybody was talking rugby in the run up to the World Cup final, three ladies from the very successful ladies Buccaneers team dropped in to say hello. Catherine Moore, Emma Pillion and Sinead O’Shea addressed a group of eager third years, urging them to come down to the club and try out the sport as plans are afoot to set up an U16 team to feed into the senior team. Already a good number of the senior team are Bower past pupils – Lorna Stuart Trainor, Aoife Corry, Niamh Gough, Antoinette Kemmy and the three visitors themselves – and TY students will participate in the annual Tag Rugby module. To add to the atmostphere student PE teachers Cliona Horan and Tommy Rickard have taught the haka in their classes while La Marseillaise could be heard from French classrooms.
