OLB was thrilled to welcome so many past pupils, LSU Sisters and retired members of staff to the school on December 8th for a special alumnae reunion. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated on December 8th, is hugely significant to the La Sainte Union Order and Bower community.
A special mass was celebrated by Fr John Roche in the central area, during which all members of the school community were remembered and prayed for. Fr John, who has strong family connections to the school, spoke so warmly during his homily about the unique history and traditions that connect each Bower girl. The school choir sang beautifully during the celebration and added to the nostalgic atmosphere for all who made up the congregation.
Mass was followed by a special blessing of the new multi-purpose playing pitch, which is the first completed phase of the school’s exciting outdoor wellbeing, sports and recreational development.
Afternoon tea, catered by A Slice of Life, was then enjoyed. This gave all those gathered – students and staff, past and present, the opportunity to sit, reminisce and share stories of their time in the school. Some also took the opportunity to explore the corridors and classrooms, which sparked even more memories.
The school would like to thank all those who attended this year’s alumnae reunion and look forward to next December’s celebration.
