Congratulations to OLB 1st Year Emma Rowan who competed in this year’s Roscommon Fleadh Cheoil in Strokestown on April 10th. Emma, a talented musician in both fiddle and piano, competed in the U15 fiddle category of the competition. She performed two slow airs – An Buchaillín Bán and Death and the Sinner, for which she claimed 1st place. She also played a reel and double jig and finished in 2nd place. Emma, who attends music lessons with Ms. Geraldine McGlynn, is looking forward to playing alongside the members of the Bower trad group over the coming years. As a result of her excellent performance in Strokestown, Emma will now represent Roscommon at the Connacht Fleadh Cheoil during the summer. All in Our Lady’s Bower wish her the very best of luck.
