tcd-scholThis year five students from Our Lady’s Bower were awarded Entrance Exhibition Scholarships to Trinity College Dublin, based on their results in the Leaving Cert examination. Eva Barry, Emma Kennedy, Naoise Rasmussen, Jessica Howard and Caitlin O’Brien received their awards at a ceremony in the college on 22 November, accompanied by Deputy Principal Anne Beades.

The girls all gained entry to high points courses with Caitlin studying Pharmacy, Naoise choosing  Genetics, Emma opting for Law and Politics and Eva Speech Therapy. We wish them well in their careers.

Ten students from Our Lady’s Bower have been awarded scholarships ucd1so far this year – almost ten per cent of the class of 2016!  Ava McKee, Therese O’Reilly and Karen Pillion have been selected as UCD Entrance Scholars 2016. This recognition is given to academic high achievers who score 560 points or more in their Leaving Cert. They were acknowledged at an official Awards Ceremony in the O’Reilly Hall, UCD on 16 November.

Many congratulations also to Amy Dolan who has been awarded an Entrance Scholarship to NUI Maynooth where she is studying primary teaching. These scholarships are awarded to students who score over 550 points in their Leaving Certificate and are worth €1,000. Amy formally received her award at a ceremony in the college on 8 November.

amy-dolanEarlier this month Sinead Reidy became a Fab24 Scholar, having been awarded an Intel Women in Technology Scholarship worth €3000 to help with her studies in NUIG, as well as mentoring and work placement in Intel.

The 2016 Parents Association Bursaries for further study were also recently announced. The recipients will be Aisling Dowd who is studying Arts in UCD and Shakira Ishola who is doing a PLC in Nursing in Galway.
