A large group of Bower students hit Westport last week as part of their Gaisce, The President’s Award Challenge. Forty-six transition students and sixteen fifth years were completing their challenges for the silver or bronze awards.
The eleven silver medallists had to walk fifty kilometres over two days, while the bronze medallists had to walk a mere twenty-five kilometres. Fortunately, the weather was reasonable and the scenery on the Greenway breathtaking. They were accompanied by staff co-ordinator Lisa McNelis, Ethna Benson and retired staff member Susan Eades.
