Another student initiative is the recently established Green Schools Programme, organised and run by fifth year students. There are currently eighteen members who meet once a week. Their aim is to incorporate recycling into the lunchtime clean-up regime, by assigning two members to each social area to oversee waste disposal. Since its inception the committee has broadened its scope, recently introducing compost bins to the school with great success.
The officers of the Green Schools committee – Alice Munnelly, Deirdre Farrell, Rachel Bowe, Amy Allen and Sinead Quirke – invite all students to work together to achieve a green flag.
