Congratulations to past pupil Jessica McMickan, who has been awarded a UCD Sports Scholarship for her achievements in hockey. Jess represented Ireland in the Four Nations U-18 Tournament in Cardiff in 2008, scoring three times for her country during the tournament. She is currently playing for her university, helping them to a 3-0 victory over Dublin City University in the Senior Cup last month. This talented sportswoman played football with Garrycastle and the Bower, winning many honours with her club. She was chosen as sports star of the month in 2008 by the Westmeath Independent. She is also an accomplished horsewoman.
Jess is studying Physiotherapy in UCD. We wish her well in her career, on and off the pitch.
