This year was a very busy one for TY dress designers as there were twenty entries for the popular recycled fashion competition which encourages young designers to create striking couture designs and impressive works of wearable art from everyday junk that would normally find its way into the bin. Nine dresses were chosen for the Western Regional Finals which will take place in the Royal
Theatre, Castlebar on 9 March.
As ever the standard is extremely high with a huge variety of designs using everything the girls could lay hands on, from nuts and raisins, knitted tights and plastic bottles to medical tubes. Voting took place last week on Facebook and some outfits finished at the top of the poll.
