Congratulations to the Our Lady’s Bower students who travelled to Longford on Sunday, February 5th to compete in the Connacht Senior Schools Swimming Gala.

The Junior Girls’ Relay team of Amelie Henson, Jasmine Jakimovic, Orla O’Donohue and Kirsten So competed in both the Freestyle and Medley event. They fought off tough competition from schools throughout Connacht to claim the gold medal in both races. As a result of their excellent performance, they have now qualified for the All-Ireland event which will take place in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin in March.

Amelie Henson also came 3rd in the Junior 100m Breaststroke. This was a fantastic individual result.

Aideen Derwin, Sinead Greene, and Imogen Simon all had super individual events with personal bests being recorded by all.

Thank you to OLB Team Manager, Aisling Fitzgerald who travelled to Longford with the girls for the competition.

Each of these athletes must be commended for the great commitment they show to their sport. Morning sessions see them in the water at 05.45 multiple times throughout the week as they take to the lanes, showing true dedication to continued progress. Well done to all.
