On Thursday, 26 January the Bower was buzzing with activity as staff and students welcomed sixth class students to the annual open evening. The young girls and their parents were able to meet the staff, discuss subject choice, view the wonderful facilities as seen on our Mannequin Challenge and chat to present Bower students about their experiences here.
All of the classrooms were on display but some proved to be more attractive than others as the crowds gathered to admire the choir and musicians perform, to marvel at the student art on show, to watch the cookery demonstration in the kitchens or the entertaining fifth year Science Magic Show.
The computer room was thronged as was the huge gym which featured displays of hockey, basketball and football. The Junk Kouture dresses, the coding games and the storytelling in the library were also major attractions drawing attention to the wide range of activities and competitions available to students.
Welcoming families to the evening, Deputy Principal Anne Beades assured them that they had arrived at a school where academic excellence goes hand in hand with a close knit welcoming atmosphere and a strong team spirit. Principal Noel Casey emphasised that each student is valued for herself in the Bower, and will be given every opportunity to shine, whatever her talents, due to the huge range of extracurricular activities on offer.
The girls then recorded their visit with a photo at the Instagram frame. Many thanks to all students, particularly the sixth year prefects, who took time out from their studies to help on the night.
