Congratulations to talented third year Orla Kelly, whose painting entitled “Micky and Jim” won a Special Merit Award in
category B of the 60th Texaco Art Competition. Orla will be presented with her award at a ceremony in the Royal Hospital in Kilmainham on Tuesday, 27 May.
Other Bower students have also received recognition for their talents recently. Sixth year Jessica Rogers was fifth at the recent World Dancing Championships while second year Rachel Moore won the 2014 Jenny Reddin Cup, U14 at the recent Feis Ceoil at the RDS. She will perform with the Dublin Garda Band at a May Day concert in the Cathedral of Christ the King. Third year Molly Crossen was Very Highly Commended in the U15 Clarinet section at the Feis.
Fourteen Bower footballers were part of the Athlone GAA U14 team which won the 2014 Féile – Lauryn Mitchell, Ashley Cuffe, Shannon Hynes, Anna Redmond, Kelly Brill, Amy Brill, Amy Joyce, Brionna Geogeghan, Aoife Temple, Eadaoin Fleming, Carla McManus, Nadia Molloy, Blessing Imade and Grace Halligan. Well done!
