On January 28th the girls had their first fixture against Scoil Chroist Ri, Portlaoise. This home game in Athlone Town’s 3G saw the team come away with a 3-0 victory, with goals being scored by Ciara Fallon-Farrell, Nicole Kelly and Tegan Foley. On January 30th we faced Presentation College, Carlow also at home. The team had a comprehensive 8-0 win with scores from Nicole Kelly (2), Jessica Frawley (2), Orlaith Craven (1), Hannah Martin (1), Nicole Gallagher (1) and one OG.
Our last two games were tough. The combined effects of away games and four fixtures in quick succession impacted the team’s performance. However, the Bower never gave up and worked tirelessly throughout. On February 1st the girls came up against St. Joseph’s Rochfortbridge in Mullingar Athletic. Our Lady’s Bower lost 3-2 with scores from Shania Ward and Shauna Kenny.
February 4th saw the side travel to Kilcullen to meet Cross and Passion Secondary School. Our Lady’s Bower lost 4-1 with Tegan Foley featuring on the score sheet.
We await to see who we will face in the next round but the future of soccer in Our Lady’s Bower looks very bright.
