Last week was a busy one for Bower students as there were quite a few extracurricular activities taking place. The fifth year Geography students explored the Burren landscape and visited the Ailwee Cave as part of their field project on Wednesday, 19 November. Transition years enjoyed a workshop on Creativity and Enterprise, while Maura Lennon from Goal spoke to the second years about Goal’s campaign to aid victims of Ebola. The girls then held a Bake Sale during breaktime on Friday 21 November to raise funds for this worthy cause.
As part of 3V’s CSPE Action Project the second years competed in an environmental table quiz on Thursday, 20 November to raise awareness of this issue.
Approximately sixty sixth years and twenty fifth years enjoyed a screening of the French film ‘Populaire’ at the local cinema on Friday, followed that afternoon by a workshop on healthy eating (Bodywhyse) organised by the Eating Disorders Association of Ireland.
Some second years were also lucky enough to watch the Connacht rugby squad in action at Buccaneers RFC recently, although young star Robbie Henshaw was absent at the Ireland training camp. Congratulations to Robbie on his start against Australia.
